Moses Brown School is proud to offer our students the magic and joy of chess instruction from Chess Master Connections (CMC). CMC programs are dynamic, thoughtful and FUN! Learn life skills of winning and losing well, creating a plan and following it, and focusing on you and your opponent’s actions and the importance of creativity all masterfully imparted throughout their instruction.
Storytelling & Play - Acting Class with Studio Playground

Let’s laugh, sing, and make a beautiful ruckus! Join Studio Playground for an acting class that empowers students to develop confidence and use their voice in an ensemble. Classes begin with a group warm up and physical acting game as students learn the fundamental concepts of voice, body, and imagination. Students explore characters, storytelling, voice, movement, and improvisation.

Test your building and gaming skills in the "Gizmo Games Workshop!” We’ll use woodshop tools, paint, and lots of recycled parts to build a variety of games such as Pirate Skeeball, Skittles, and the Mr. Bones Game (like Operation!) that you can bring home to challenge your friends and family!"
Cartooning

Design your own original cartoon characters and storyboards! We’ll talk about drawing texture - hair, fur, scales, feathers, horns, Using clay, paint and fabric, you can create a puppet of your main character and bring your storyboard to life!

Spanish w/ Luz

This class will be an introduction to basic Spanish vocabulary, and common everyday expressions. The children will learn lots of
vocabulary, including numbers, colors, body parts, animals, and people. In this class, the use of art, music, games and cooking helps make the Spanish language learning process easy and fun! Taught by Luz Avila, member of the Extended Day Team at Moses Brown. Luz is a native Spanish speaker who has worked with children for the last 20 years and is very excited to share the Spanish language with the children.

Math Club

Math Club is a fun time to explore topics that are beyond what students usually learn about in their classroom. We will delve into topics like fractals and Fibonacci Numbers, play strategy games such as Set and Acuity, explore probability, discover the math in Origami, and challenge ourselves to improve our creative and flexible thinking skills. As happens every year, the weekly topics will grow and change with the interest and needs of the participants.

Zentangling

What is Zentangling?
The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. We call these patterns, tangles. You create tangles with combinations of dots, lines, and simple curves. It enables you to deliberately access a state of relaxed focus, wake up your imagination and express it creatively with confidence. This club will be filled with drawing, relaxation, and creation! Taught by Kristin Morrissey (1st grade teacher)
Jewelry Making

This course is perfect for little hands ready to explore the colorful world of jewelry making and beading. This camp is led by artist Rossi Donesky, and Kindergarten teacher Ella Donesky who will guide the kids through exciting, hands-on activities where they’ll learn to create beautiful jewelry using beads, strings, and charms.

Squash

We are thrilled to be able to offer this fun sport for lower school students! Children are encouraged to wear athletic clothing, and non-marking footwear is a must. No other equipment is needed as rackets & eyewear will be provided. Coached by the team at PVD Squash, overseen by Arthur Gaskin, a multiple winner on the PSA-World Tour and 8-time Irish National Champion.
