Down City Design: Inventor Studio

July 16–20 or July 23–27 or July 30–August 3

Half-day: 8:45–11:30 a.m.

Ages 8-11

Give your budding inventor the chance to design, experiment, and dream up new ideas!

DownCity Design’s Inventor Studio offers campers ages 8-11 a fun introduction to the process that designers and inventors use to create products that solve problems and make the world a better place. Through hands-on design challenges, students will develop confidence and practice STEAM skills while learning to innovate, communicate their ideas, and work as part of a team.

Each week, campers are presented with a real community need, and work together to imagine something they could create to meet that need. With the guidance of our experienced Design Educators, they’ll sketch their ideas, experiment with new materials as they prototype and test their concepts, get feedback to make their designs stronger, and present their final pitch. There will be a brand new design challenge to tackle each week, so campers can participate in multiple sessions and continue to develop new skills.

DownCity Design is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the city of Providence by getting young people involved in building our future. We help youth become change-makers by inviting them to design solutions for their communities. To learn more about our programs, please visit

Campers may join other MB camps in the afternoon, but must register separately.

Registration begins January 1, 2018. MB Camps will be closed on Wednesday July 4, 2018 in observance of Independence Day.
